World Bosses Have Arrived in Our Free 3D Browser MMORPG

World bosses have arrived in Titans of Time. Five huge raid bosses now spawn in the open world of our free 3D browser MMORPG, and when one wakes up, the whole server hears about it. There is no sign-up and no raid group to organise in advance: show up, hit it, heal someone, and you are part of the fight.

When and where they spawn

Each boss lives in its own zone and comes back about two days after it dies. Chat warns everyone online 10, 5 and 2 minutes before it spawns, so there is time to get there. From the first warning until a while after the boss dies, PvP is switched off in its zone, so the fight is about the boss and not about getting ganked on the way. Duels still work.

Meet the bosses

Anubarath, level 20 (Desert)

Players fight Anubarath, a level 20 world boss, among the pillars of the Desert in Titans of Time
Anubarath in the Desert (real in-game footage).

The lowest level boss, so newer players get a world boss of their own. He seals players inside sarcophagi that the rest of the raid has to break open, calls up Sand Scorpions, and whips up a sandstorm once he drops to half health.

Verdanthos, level 72 (Emerald Field)

The emerald dragon weighs your heart. Above half health you get a damage buff; below it, he puts you to sleep. At half health the whole field sinks into the Emerald Dream. He drops his own level 70 gear, with a 5% chance at a purple weapon.

Morfos, level 100 (Astari Forest*)

A raid battles Morfos, the Hollow King, under a burning sky in Astari Forest* in Titans of Time
Morfos, the Hollow King.

The Hollow King raises skeleton guards, marks a player who has to run away from the group before the mark bursts, and drains the raid to heal himself.

Cruorath, level 150 (Blood Lands)

The High Priestess of Blood. Her acolytes come in waves and shield her while any of them live, so kill them first. Swarms of Blood Spawnlings pour out and swell the longer they stand in her blood rain, she binds pairs of players who must stay close to each other, and she turns raiders into Blood Effigies that the raid has to destroy to set them free.

Malgaroth, level 225 (Hellish Wastes)

The Warden of the Damned is the hardest of the five, built for a raid of strong high level players. He is a hell knight three times the size of the Hell Masters around him. His Hellblade lands hard on his tank, he raises the Risen Damned, and every 15 seconds he calls a meteor down on a player: a rune circle marks the spot, and you have a few seconds to get out of it. From half health the sky over his arena burns with hellfire. He drops level 225 helms, a caster cloak, a ring and weapons.

How the fights work

Spell effects light up the dragon Verdanthos as a raid of players fights it in Titans of Time
A raid on Verdanthos.
  • Anyone can join at any level. Land 10 hits or heals and the kill counts for you.
  • A kill pays twice the experience of a normal kill for your level.
  • Inside a boss’s raid area you can heal and buff anyone fighting it, not only your party, and party buffs fill empty spots with nearby raiders.
  • Bosses enrage more often as their health drops.
  • Every boss has its own music, and what it is about to do shows up as a boss emote in the top banner and your chat, so you know what is coming.
  • Nothing a boss does is unavoidable. Big hits are marked with circles you can step out of, or can be answered by your healers.

You can see the leash

Pull a boss too far from home and it resets. That used to happen without warning. Now a pulsing red line on the ground shows how far it can go, a faint red wall rises as you or the boss get close to it, and a countdown tells you how long you have to bring it back: a boss that crosses the line fights on for 6 more seconds before it resets.

Loot that is fair to everyone

  • The loot window opens for everyone in the roll, even players who died in the fight, and you can roll from anywhere in the zone.
  • Need is only offered on gear you can wear, and you can Need a boss chest’s gear if your level is anywhere from half to double the item’s level. Outside that, you can still Greed.
  • Ties are rerolled between the tied players only, and every win is announced to the server.
  • World boss gear binds when equipped, so an item you won but cannot use can be traded or sold on the auction house until someone wears it.

Titans of Time Fall 2026 Update: World Bosses, a New Dungeon, Fishing, Ships and VR

It has been quiet on this blog since March, but it has not been quiet in the game. Since our last post, Titans of Time, our free 3D browser MMORPG, has had its biggest run of updates in years: five world bosses, the Blood Temple dungeon, a fishing mini-game, six new ships, VR support, a new engine version, almost 300 new spell effects and a long list of quality of life changes. Most of them started as suggestions from players on Discord.

Here is the short version. The big ones get their own posts over the next few weeks.

World bosses roam the open world

Five world bosses now spawn in the open world, from level 20 to level 225: Anubarath in the Desert, Verdanthos in Emerald Field, Morfos in Astari Forest*, Cruorath in Blood Lands and Malgaroth in Hellish Wastes. Chat warns everyone 10, 5 and 2 minutes before one appears, anyone can join the fight, and each boss drops its own gear. Meet them in World Bosses Have Arrived.

The Blood Temple is open

When Blood Lands launched in 2023 we promised its temple was coming next. It took a while, but the Blood Temple is open: a maze held by the Red Covenant cult, two bosses on the way down, and Magis, the Great Blood Lord, waiting in a chamber under a lake of blood. It is for level 150 and up, with level 175 loot and a six-quest chain from Artemis. That is one card on our roadmap moved to done.

Better endgame gear

Temple armor now comes in sets with set bonuses, the Hell Pit drops level 225 gear, and Abaddon drops level 300 gear, including very rare legendary weapons. 47 new rare drops fill the levels where some slots had nothing at all. Temple and world boss gear now binds when equipped, so you can trade it or sell it on the auction house until someone wears it.

Fishing is a real game now

A sparkling fishing spot on a pond shows where the fish are in Titans of Time
Fishing spots sparkle, so you can see where the fish are.

Sparkles on the water show where the fish are, and every bite starts a reel meter you keep in the green until the catch is yours. Fish come in sizes, your catches go in a Fishing Log, rare fish cook into Well Fed dishes and about one catch in fifty hooks a crate of treasure. Out on the Undying Sea, the Great Whale takes a crew of players reeling together. Cooking and Alchemy now have recipes every 5 levels up to 200.

Six ships and your banner on the sail

The marina sells six ships, from a $500 Rowboat to the $1,000,000 War Vessel, each with its own model. Paint your legion banner or your profile picture on your main sail and everyone at sea sees it.

Play it in VR

Got a VR headset? Titans of Time now runs in VR right in the browser: a PC headset through Chrome or Edge, or a Meta Quest’s own browser. The controllers move, cast, target and loot, and every game window works by pointing. Without a headset nothing changes.

A better looking, better sounding world

Cosmic Blast, one of the new spell effects.

The game moved to a new version of its Three.js engine this spring. Since then: almost 300 new spell and world effects, one simple Shadows setting from Off to Ultra with much faster shadows, smoother loading with no more freezes when other players appear, wormhole portals that show where they lead, footsteps that match the ground under you, a soundscape for every zone and new weapon hit sounds.

Quality of life and combat

  • Full key bindings in a new Controls tab, with mouse buttons, the wheel and Shift, Ctrl and Alt.
  • /say chat with speech bubbles, a Combat tab in chat and a combat log you can scroll back.
  • Seven hearths to call home, and a Way Back for five minutes after you use your Hearth Scroll.
  • Buff timers, cooldown numbers, party colours on the minimap, inventory groups and search, and Sell All for stacks.
  • Spells are learned automatically and for free as you level.
  • Classic MMO rules for mana regeneration, leaving combat and group loot, much faster resting at high levels, and area attacks that hit up to 10 enemies.
  • The auction house tells you when your item sells, when you win and when you are outbid.

What is next

Our development roadmap on Trello shows what we are working on, including the new customizable character models and Heroic Temples. Titans of Time is in Early Access, and a lot of what you see above started as a player’s idea, so keep them coming.
